The Chinese South Pointing Chariot

This model functions identically to our popular Chinese South Pointing Chariot model but contains many new design features to make the assembly of this model quick and easy. It is manufactured from top-quality domestic solid oak non-toxic, formaldehyde-free and void-free plywood for a more dimensionally stable, stronger, and less expensive model than if made from natural wood.
Like the original museum-quality model, the figure on top of this amazing machine maintains its orientation no matter which way the chariot is pushed, pulled, turned, or even how fast. It does this via a clever application of gears and mathematical ratios incorporated into a differential mechanism.
Unlike the original model, which required the precision assembly of multiple gears, the Easy Assembly version comes with all the gears pre-cut by computer controlled machinery to drastically reduce assembly time and increase accuracy of the model. Several of the other features have been revised so less time is spent on assembling the model and more time is spent enjoying this ancient engineering marvel.
The completed kit stands 11 inches tall, 11 inches long, and 6 1/2 inches wide.
